All portions of the New York State Canal system are scheduled to open for navigation on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 8:00 am, except for Locks E-24 (Baldwinsville), E-25 (Mays Point), and CS-1 (Cayuga).
Until further notice, Lock E-16 and Lock E-17 will pass vessels in both directions on the even hours at 8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. During the last locking of the day at 6:00 p.m., Lock E-16 will only pass eastbound vessels while Lock E-17 will only pass westbound vessels. The 6:00 p.m. locking will clear the pool between Locks E-16 and E-17 as no vessels will be allowed to moor in this location overnight.
All vessels transiting between Lock E-16 and Rocky Rift (navigation aids G441/R456), must travel at idle speed (no more than 5 MPH), no exception, as the Canal Corporation continues to monitor the integrity of the earthen embankment west of Lock E-16…
