It’s Official: Early Signage Is Up and Mount Diablo BBQ Is Coming to Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, CA — It is no longer just paperwork, rumor, or a very barbecue-shaped hunch.

Early signage is now up at the former Horn Barbecue space in downtown Lafayette, confirming that Mount Diablo BBQ is on its way to 3422 Mt. Diablo Blvd.

The new restaurant’s own website now says “Opening Soon” and lists the Lafayette address directly, along with planned hours of Monday through Sunday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. “or sold out.”

That means one of Lafayette’s most watched restaurant spaces is officially heading into its next chapter — and, once again, that chapter involves smoked meat.

A New Look for a Familiar BBQ Space

The building has already been through a major visual transformation. The former Horn Barbecue look, with its dark exterior and moody smokehouse feel, has been replaced by a much brighter red exterior and a cleaner farmhouse-style appearance.

Now the early Mount Diablo BBQ signage makes the change feel more real. We could pull permits and speak to landlords. But until there’s a sign and construction work is underway, you never know for sure what a new space will be.

What Mount Diablo BBQ Plans to Serve
