LAFAYETTE PARISH, LA. (KLFY) — Eligible classroom teachers in the Lafayette Parish School System will receive a “13th Check,” Lafayette Parish School System (LPSS) said.
According to LPSS, eligible teachers will receive a payment of $648.87 later this month through the district’s 2002 half-cent sales tax proposition. The Lafayette Parish School Board will acknowledge the payment during its regular board meeting on Thursday, May 14.
The sales tax proposition funds classroom teacher salaries and related benefits, LPSS added. It also provides for interest earned on the reserve fund to be distributed annually to eligible teachers as an additional payment commonly known as the “13th Check.”…
