New exhibit in KC Zoo’s Africa zone will get you nearly ‘nose-to-nose’ with these giants

The Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium will open its new Giraffe Crossing exhibit as part of a revamped Africa section next Friday, allowing guests to get closer to the animals than ever before.

Giraffe Crossing will allow guests visit the giants year-round, which wasn’t possible with its previous weather-dependent exhibit, according to the zoo website.

“This new project will not only provide Zoo guests the opportunity to see giraffes every day, they will also be able to interact with them through feeding stations both inside the barn and outside on the African savanna,” the zoo website says.

The new enclosure will allow the giraffes to roam inside and outside, eliminating what used to be a long walk from the zoo’s African Savanna to their housing barn…
