UL Lafayette unveils hurricane disaster unit for Louisiana crews

What started as a simple sketch on a napkin , after years of hurricane relief work, has become a full-scale disaster-response innovation aimed at helping frontline workers survive and operate in some of Louisiana’s harshest conditions.

On Thursday, May 14, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette unveiled the first prototype created through its REDII Works FabLab: the RoadRunner Disaster Mobile Unit, a self-sustaining mobile living and working space designed for use in disaster zones.
