TACOMA, Wash. — Five Tacoma Public Schools employees are being hailed as heroes for stepping in during a violent stabbing at Foss High School in late April.
On April 30, a 16-year-old student, armed with a knife, stabbed four students and a security guard during a fight in a school hallway. Before Tacoma police officers responded to the campus, the department said four staff members courageously jumped in, preventing the violent situation from taking a deadly turn.
Bonhoeffer Muao, Sharrese Johnson, David McEachern and Shiante Reed were each honored with the Tacoma Police Department’s Medal of Courage during a school board meeting Thursday.
