Dog dead after fight between pets escalates to shooting near Steilacoom High School

STEILACOOM, Wash. — A dog was shot and killed after a reported dispute that began with a fight between two dogs, prompting a brief lockdown at Steilacoom High School on Friday morning, authorities said.

According to a Facebook post from the Steilacoom Department of Public Safety, officers were dispatched at 6:48 a.m. to a report of shots fired near Pickett Street and Heath Court in Steilacoom.

While responding, officers coordinated a lockdown of Steilacoom High School, including diverting school buses headed toward the campus. After the scene was secured, police said they communicated with school district administrators to lift the lockdown and resume regular operations…
