Portland man accused of hitting officer with soft-ball sized rock, breaking into home and threatening family

PORTLAND, Ore. — A Portland man is facing multiple charges after allegedly hitting an officer in the face with a softball-sized rock after breaking into a home and threatening a woman and children inside.

On Thursday, police officers responded at 11:35 p.m. to a home on North Overlook Terrace. A 911 caller said a man she didn’t know broke into her home, then threatened to kill her and her children, Portland police said. The woman armed herself with a stick and chased the man, who ran away with a metal garbage can lid.

The officers located the man, identified as 35-year-old Timothy Reed, in Overlook Park. They tried to stop him, but he wasn’t compliant with commands, Portland police said. Reed left the park and went back into the neighborhood…
