19-year-old charged in connection with Charlotte pool party shooting that killed one and injured four: CMPD

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A 19-year-old has been charged with murder in connection with a shooting during a pool party in Charlotte, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, officers responded to a shooting at a pool party on the 5900 block of Hucks Road in north Charlotte. Multiple people were suffering from gunshot wounds, including 20-year-old Richard Jeddiah Thomas, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Saturday, May 16, CMPD said they identified 19-year-old Kamri Ja’Suan Knotts as a suspect in this case. After an interview with detectives, he was charged with first-degree murder and four counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury.
