Bub Terrell’s two home runs ignited No. 4 Auburn on Sunday as the Tigers overcame an early deficit to 5th-ranked Georgia to walk off the Bulldogs 14-4 in eight innings to salvage the final game of the series. With the win the Tigers improve to 36-18 overall and 17-13 in SEC play and secures a bye for the first day of the SEC Tournament. Auburn will be the 6-seed and face the winner of Oklahoma-LSU in the final game of the day on Wednesday.
“We wound up getting a game we’ve played a lot in game three,” coach Butch Thompson said. “(Alex) Petrovic being able to steady himself. An amazing amount of confidence and belief in what he’s doing. And the offense playing a lot of ball. Love to see Bub having a slower week, but wind up hitting the ball last night and the two today made a difference.
“It’s hard to talk about a player because we’re at our best when we have our whole offense working and everybody contributing. We absolutely got that for the most part top to bottom today.”…
