Boaters urged to use caution as drought lowers Falls Lake water levels

It may look like a perfect day to be out on the water, but dropping water levels at Falls Lake are creating new hazards for boaters.

The Highway 50 boat launch was busy with activity, as people took advantage of the warm weather. However, the ongoing drought has caused water levels at the lake to fall roughly four feet below normal, according to officials.

The lower water levels are hard to miss. Shorelines are expanding, and more shoals are becoming visible, creating potential obstacles for anyone out on the water…
