SCHENECTADY — Over the course of nearly five hours Saturday, Colonie track star Ryan Buskey was largely stoic and stationary. The senior occasionally would pop out of his chair to root on a teammate blazing by on the track at Schenectady High School as he awaited joining the high jump competition. At 1:49 p.m., Buskey made his first attempt of the day a successful one, clearing the bar at 6 feet, 6 inches.
Buskey and Christian Brothers Academy junior standout Max Kimball soon became the only two competitors left and each waved off the next height at 6-8. Kimball and Buskey both then cleared 6-10 on the first attempt and missed on three chances at 7-0. The two then competed in a jump-off. Thirty-seven minutes after making his opening effort of the day, Buskey cleared 6-10 again to capture his third straight high jump championship at the 83rd Eddy Meet.
“It feels good to repeat at the Eddy Meet. This is the best I have jumped here,” Buskey said before quickly having to turn his attention to running a leg on Colonie’s 1,600 relay team that ended up finishing second…
