Youth Beautification Summit trains next generation for clean up efforts in New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – High schoolers from across the state gathered to help give the Land of Enchantment a major makeover on Saturday. Dozens of students attended the Youth Beautification Summit at the National Hispanic Cultural Center. The event is part of the state’s Breaking Bad Habits campaign for youth, encouraging the next generation to learn leadership skills and care for the land they call home.

Organizers said it’s vital to get youth involved. “Here in New Mexico, it’s such a beautiful state, and it has so much potential, but we don’t have enough youth engagement. I think us three as a whole, we want to get ourselves out there, we want to make a difference in the youth, so when they grow older and take over all these programs, they’re already ready and are training the next youth generation,” said Madalynn Casey, Youth Ambassador, Clovis High School.
