Men who shot State Trooper Cothron sentenced to life without parole

PUTNAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WZTV) — The two men who shot State Trooper Adam Cothron two years ago at a traffic stop have received the maximum sentence allowed under state law.

On July 19, 2024, Trooper Cothron conducted a routine traffic stop on I-40, and when he approached the vehicle, he was shot as he was beginning to introduce himself, where he was left lying on the side of the road.
