STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Authorities are investigating a series of shootings reported across the borough over the past several days that left two people injured.
While most major crime categories remain even or below the same period in 2025 boroughwide, Staten Island has seen an increase in shootings, according to NYPD CompStat data.
Through May 17, 2026 the borough recorded six shooting incidents and seven shooting victims compared with three shooting incidents and three shooting victims during the same period last year — an increase of 100% in incidents and 133% in victims.
