WAYNESBURG, Ohio (WOIO) – ATV riders are trespassing on a closed landfill in Stark County, ignoring no trespassing signs, and potentially damaging a protective barrier that keeps contaminants from reaching drinking water supplies.

The Exit Landfill in Waynesburg closed in 2002. It was a construction and demolition debris landfill when operational.

Workers sealed it with a clay cap designed to keep rainwater out. ATV riders on top of the grassy hill can damage the clay cap beneath the surface…
