RJWBarnabas Health launches first NJ street medical team

ELIZABETH, N.J. (PIX11) – It’s a medical concept you may have seen on the HBO Max series “The Pitt,” where doctors sometimes leave their Pittsburgh hospital to treat people living on the streets.

In Elizabeth, New Jersey, it’s not part of a script. It’s now a reality.

“I get goosebumps thinking about it,” said Dr. Edward Egan, the Street Medicine program director at RWJBarnabas Health Trinitas Medical Center. “It’s just such an amazing program to bring to the community.

“I’m not out there wearing a white coat,” Egan continued. “I dress this way for a reason- it’s breaking barriers that we can take care of people outside.”…
