VALLEY–(KFOR May 19)–Storm assessment teams were out again in southeast Nebraska on Tuesday, after severe weather Monday produced at least five reports of tornadoes between Jefferson and Richardson Counties.
At one-point late Monday afternoon, Pawnee City in Pawnee County was under a tornado emergency, due to a reported large tornado on the ground heading for that community. Megan Buckley is the emergency manager for Pawnee and Johnson counties and tells KFOR News radar data from that twister indicated it could have been an EF2 or higher tornado and it was tracking toward Pawnee City. KFOR News talked to meteorologist Dirk Petersen at the National Weather Service in Valley, who said they are still tabulating the storm reports that came into their office.
A disaster declaration was issued Tuesday by the City of Auburn, due to damage from Monday’s severe storms. Auburn Public Schools called off classes Tuesday because of storm damage. The city said Tuesday it is coordinating a response with resources from Nemaha County Emergency Management…
