First EV charges installed at Albuquerque International Sunport

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque International Sunport hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday to celebrate the installation of its first electric vehicle stations.

The ceremony took place at the Sunport’s cellphone waiting lot, where two new Level 3 DC Fast Chargers are available for public use. The chargers are ChargePoint PL2000 Powerlink and Block units with 160 kW charging capacity, capable of charging an EV from 10% to 80% in approximately 20 minutes. Charging is available for 30 cents per kilowatt-hour.

“What a great concept for a place where you really don’t have a lot of dwell time. But you can get here early, to the cell phone lot, when you’re here to pick up your family and friends, and you can get a full charge and monitor the flight activity,” said Aviation Director Manny Manriquez…
