ATHENS, Ala. — The East Limestone Volunteer Fire Department is reminding families to unplug countertop appliances and keep fire extinguishers nearby after responding to a house fire caused by an air fryer.
Firefighters say the recent fire started from a countertop air fryer while the homeowners were not cooking. According to the department, the family was sitting on the couch watching TV when the appliance began to smoke and catch fire.
Because the homeowners were inside the house and had a fire extinguisher within reach, firefighters say they were able to stop the fire before it caused more serious damage…
