Springfield officials address property violations

SPRINGFIELD — Springfield Township Trustees May 14 considered property violations at 1423 Pin Oak Drive, 472 Junior Parkway and the former Tattoos By Sheila building at 1563 Massillon Road.

Sheila Whited, owner of the Massillon Road property, detailed its history to the board. Whited said she purchased the property in 1985 and it housed her tattoo parlor and one additional tenant since that time. However, in 1987, the township Board of Zoning Appeals denied a request to add apartments to the property since it was located in a commercial district and apartment complexes are only permitted in residential zones.

Zoning Administrator Debra Grow said recent complaints about debris and high grass on the property led to township officials discovering the building had been converted into two additional apartments following the closure of the tattoo business in 2013…
