The estranged partner of a South Texas woman charged with killing their two children was deemed earlier this year to pose a threat of “harassment, abuse, serious harm or injury” to the woman and the kids, according to a judge’s ruling.
Dafala Akram Ssemuju is the father of the 6-year-old girl and 5-year-old boy whose bodies were found in a burning SUV on San Antonio’s West Side early Friday morning. The car belonged to their mother, Marlene Vidal, 34, who was taken into custody at the scene and was later charged with two counts of capital murder and one count of arson.
Vidal, who lives in Edinburg, had severe mental health problems and suffered a psychotic episode nearly a year ago, family members told the San Antonio Express-News.
