Residents watch as local trapper catches alligator at Lake Mayer

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Park-goers at Lake Mayer witnessed something many haven’t seen before Thursday, a local trapper removing an alligator from the lake.

The gator was around nine feet but could have been closer to 10 feet, if its tail hadn’t been bitten off, Tara Jones who works with “Trapper Jack” told WSAV. The alligator had reportedly been eating ducks in the lake, leading to a park-goer calling police and reporting it.

Jones said they got the call from a county park worker to remove the gator Thursday morning. She and Jack Douglas, who is known locally as Trapper Jack, spent around two hours catching the alligator…
