Public transportation services in Port Wentworth will be coming to an end in December of this year, after Chatham County Commissioners voted 5-1 Friday morning to deny adding the city to the transportation tax district.
The commissioners cited a lack of referendum and the residents’ input as to why they voted to deny.
Two years ago, Chatham Area Transit expanded its services to Port Wentworth with Route 5, which travels from downtown Savannah to Port Wentworth, has stops on Crossgate Rd and the International Trade Park.
