High school student arrested for bringing loaded gun to school in Monona

MONONA, Wis. — A student is under arrest after allegedly bringing a loaded gun to Monona Grove High School.

Monona Police Department officers responded to the school around 9:45 a.m. on May 21, after a School Resource Officer received information via social media about a student having a gun on school grounds.

Police located 18-year-old Derrick Davis and arrested him after a brief struggle. Davis denied having a gun, but a search turned up a fully loaded 9mm handgun in the student’s backpack.

The gun was reported stolen from Madison. Monona Police said Davis was on felony bail from Fond du Lac County…
