Umphrey’s McGee will play two nights at Pisgah Brewing Company in Black Mountain, with concerts scheduled for Friday, May 22, and Saturday, May 23. Both shows are set to begin at for 7:30 p.m.
The two-night run gives Western North Carolina jam-band and progressive-rock fans a Memorial Day weekend destination show close to Asheville. Pisgah Brewing’s outdoor concert setting has long been a regional draw for touring acts and warm-weather music events.
Though often pigeonholed into “jam band” circles, Umphrey’s doesn’t fit that traditional mold, and their fans don’t either. Is it prog rock? Song-forward, Beatles-esque arrangements? Be careful, they might hit you with some metal riffs mid-set, too…
