Melania Trump’s protective approach toward her son Barron is reportedly creating distance between him and his older half-siblings.
Barron Trump, 20, is the only child of Melania, 56, and former President Donald Trump, 79. Donald Trump has four other children from previous marriages: Donald Jr.
(48), Ivanka, Eric (42), and Tiffany (32). The significant age gaps-ranging from 12 years with Tiffany to 28 years with Donald Jr.-underscore Barron’s unique position within the family.
Unlike his siblings, Barron has largely remained out of the public spotlight. Sources say Melania has made deliberate efforts to shield him from media attention, which contrasts sharply with the more public lives of his half-siblings. Recently, Barron quietly joined Sollos Yerba Mate Inc., a beverage startup set to release its first product this month, signaling a low-key step into the business world.
According to an insider speaking to columnist Rob Shuter, Melania orchestrated Barron’s 20th birthday party in March with a carefully curated guest list that excluded most of his half-siblings. Tiffany Trump was the only one invited from the older siblings. The source noted, “Melania is in charge, and she wanted this to be about Barron, not about Donald Trump, and not about his other children.”
The same insider pointed out that Barron didn’t grow up alongside his half-siblings in the usual way, which has resulted in a lack of a strong bond. “Melania has always kept Barron separate,” they added, noting that the guest list for the birthday celebration made this clear.
Tensions within the family reportedly flared in 2025 when Eric Trump addressed comments Barron allegedly made to President Joe Biden. After podcaster Joe Rogan claimed that Barron said to Biden at the inauguration, “it’s on now,” Eric clarified that Barron’s actual words were polite-something along the lines of “Congratulations and best of luck to you.”
Eric described Barron as “a nice guy,” “too courteous” to make any negative remarks, and “a little shy” but “smart as hell.” Barron is currently a student at New York University’s Stern School of Business.
Sources say Melania was upset by Eric’s comments and insisted that Barron “not be discussed. Ever.”
An insider added, “She told Eric to shut his mouth. She protects that boy like a lioness.”
Earlier this month, Donald Trump praised Melania’s parenting, saying, “She’s an incredible mom. She has a little boy who’s quite tall!
A little boy to us, but he’s quite tall. She takes great care of him.”
Barron stands an impressive 6-foot-7, a stature that certainly makes him hard to overlook.
