PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (WHP) — A fallen Philadelphia firefighter and former U.S. Marine has been selected to receive the Eastern District of Pennsylvania’s Hometown Hero award posthumously after being killed in the line of duty in June 2022.
Cpt. Sean Williamson of the Philadelphia Fire Department (PFD) is being honored as part of Freedom 250, and state attorney offices nationwide are honoring hometown heroes in their district, according to a news release.
The award commemorates the 250th anniversary of America’s founding when ink was put to page in 1776, formally declaring itself as a sovereign nation and separating from the British.
