JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) – A man has been charged after he allegedly stalked the mayor of Mulga, Wilford Keith Varner, according to court documents.
Court records claim that on April 14, 2026, Charles Utley threatened Varner with bodily harm online. He then showed up at Mulga Town Hall, banged on the door and yelled for Varner to come outside. The whole time this happened; Utley was reportedly armed with two pocket knives.
According to court documents, on May 11, 2026, Utley sent 18 harassing and threatening emails to Varner over a 24-hour period. He also called city hall, making threats towards Varner, despite Utley being ordered not to have any contact with the mayor…
