Downtown Huntsville faces road closures, traffic delays Monday for annual Cotton Row races

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Downtown Huntsville drivers should expect road closures, traffic delays and heavy pedestrian activity Monday morning as thousands of runners take part in the annual Cotton Row 10K, 5K and 1-mile races.

About 5,000 runners are expected to participate in the event, which begins at 7 a.m. and wraps up around 11 a.m., according to officials. Huntsville Police Department officers will be stationed along the race routes to help manage traffic and ensure pedestrian safety.

Several downtown streets will be affected, including portions of Church Street, Monroe Street, Williams Avenue, Holmes Avenue, California Street, Bankhead Parkway and Pratt Avenue…
