Madison Police Monitor says Oversight Board doesn’t manage her

MADISON, Wis. — Amid criticism of Madison Independent Police Monitor Aeiramique Glass for a report saying the chair of the board that hired her shouldn’t have been arrested in a December incident, Glass claims no conflict of interest because the board does not manage her.

Madison School Board Member and Police Civilian Oversight Chair Maia Pearson was arrested in December on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. The case is still pending in Dane County Court.

Last week, Glass posted a blog saying police should not have arrested Pearson. Pearson was appointed to the Police Civilian Oversight Board by Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway. The same board chose Glass to be the independent police monitor…
