MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Police Department’s Fugitive Unit on Friday, May 22, arrested a man wanted in connection with two shootings in a single day, including one that left a 44-year-old man dead.
Jayvon Wilson, 19, was taken into custody Friday in the 4500 block of Sawmill Drive after being identified as the suspect in a Sunday, May 17, homicide and a later shooting the same day that covered a home with gunfire while nine people were inside.
MPD responded around 10 a.m. May 17 to a shooting in the 2100 block of Driftwood Avenue. Once on the scene, officers found Mario Butlers, 44, suffering from a critical gunshot wound. Investigators learned that Butlers and Wilson were involved in an altercation and that Wilson shot the man and left the scene before police arrived. Butlers later died as a result of his injuries…
