An earthquake felt by residents across Hawaii has been confirmed today. The tremor struck at 9:46 p.m. approximately 3.7 miles east-southeast of the Honaunau-Napoopoo area along the western flank of Mauna Loa, at a depth of 14 miles.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center confirmed that no tsunami was generated by the earthquake. Six minutes later, a weaker magnitude 3.2 aftershock occurred just northwest of the initial quake, at a depth of approximately 13 miles below the surface.
Reports of shaking poured in from across the state, with intense tremors felt as far away as Omao and Hanalei on the neighboring island of Kauai, according to Hawaii News Now.
