A pedestrian was struck and killed by a train near downtown San Diego yesterday, turning a busy stretch of tracks into an active investigation scene. Officers responded around 6:25 p.m. to the area near 2100 Pacific Highway, where medics pronounced the person dead at the scene as investigators secured the area.
San Diego police told reporters that officers were called out for a collision involving a train and a pedestrian, according to KGTV. The victim’s identity has not yet been released, and authorities said the incident remains under investigation. Emergency crews closed off the immediate area while detectives documented the scene.
Coaster Service Halted Between Old Town and Santa Fe Depot
The North County Transit District alerted riders that tracks were shut down between Old Town and the Santa Fe Depot and urged passengers to use MTS Trolley service for northbound travel, according to a service alert from NCTD Service Alerts. Commuters were told to expect delays and alternate routing while trains remained blocked.
