PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — For the next several months, a portion of Vancouver’s waterfront area will be closed to vehicle traffic throughout the weekend.
The City of Vancouver will temporarily block vehicle access on Waterfront Way between Parkway Place and Esther Street, starting on Fridays at 4 p.m. and lasting through Mondays at 5 a.m., officials recently announced.

City leaders said the “pedestrian-friendly” initiative comes after officials spent the past three weekends launching the pilot version, which determined reducing vehicle traffic prevents unsafe driving behaviors like street racing — and fosters a calmer environment for visitors.
