Several suspected burglars are still on the loose after an early-morning police pursuit that started in Pinecrest and ended with a crash in Hollywood, officials said.
It began just after 2 a.m., when a Pinecrest officer on patrol spotted a suspicious gray BMW parked on the wrong side of Southwest 66th Avenue and saw people in ski masks running from a home’s yard. The driver of the BMW allegedly hit a Pinecrest patrol car and then took off north on State Road 836, according to investigators.
How police say the chase unfolded
According to Local 10, the on-duty Pinecrest Police Department supervisor made the call to end the pursuit near Sunset Drive for safety reasons. The BMW did not stop, continuing into Broward County.
Authorities say the vehicle ultimately crashed in Hollywood, where officers took one suspect into custody while others ran off. Police have not released the name of the arrested suspect or detailed any formal charges.
