Sarasota National Cemetery tribute honors fallen heroes

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – A tribute ceremony honored Gold Star families Sunday as the community gathered at Sarasota National Cemetery to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Over 28,000 veterans are laid to rest at the Sarasota National Cemetery. Twenty-five died in active duty or officially as a result of their service, and their names were called in remembrance.

Kim Hayes, a Gold Star mother, spoke at the Memorial Day tribute ceremony, calling the names of 38 fallen heroes — honoring the 25 interred at the Sarasota National Cemetery and some that were never found…
