Actress and activist Jane Fonda recently addressed students at Colorado State University (CSU). She urged them to act against climate change. Fonda highlighted that the current student generation will significantly experience climate change effects. She also noted they might be the last generation able to fight it. Fonda insisted that climate change is not a political issue, but a survival matter. She called for unity among students, despite the political divide in the U.S.
Fonda’s speech was part of the Thematic Year of Democracy. This university initiative aims to expose students to various perspectives and foster civic engagement. The previous speaker, Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.), also stressed the importance of youth involvement in local politics, despite his political differences with Fonda.
Fonda advised students to pay attention to local elections, not just high-profile political races. She encouraged CSU students to participate more in the Associated Students of CSU elections, underlining the significance of these races.
