The CBS News Miami NEXT Weather team has declared Thursday a NEXT Weather Alert day due to dangerous heat expected later.
A heat advisory is in effect for all of South Florida, including Broward, Miami-Dade and mainland Monroe counties from noon until 7 p.m. due to the feels-like temperatures that could reach 105 to 110 degrees.
There is also mostly a major risk of heat-related illness for South Florida on Thursday. That means that without the proper cooling and/or hydration, heat exhaustion and heat illness will be possible.
A few areas may experience an extreme risk of heat-related illness due to little or no overnight relief.
It already felt like it was in the 90s early Thursday morning, and this afternoon will be brutal with heat indices in the triple-digits.
Residents across South Florida should take the necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illness.
Some heat safety tips include staying hydrated, wearing light-colored and loose-fitting clothing, staying in the shade or air conditioning or taking frequent breaks if you do need to be outside today…
