Boca Raton Fire Truck Struck On I-95

TEEN APPARENTLY SLAMS INTO FIRE TRUCK. SERIOUSLY INJURED. FIREFIGHTER ALSO HURT.

UPDATE #1 at 6:48 a.m. — New information: The fire truck was struck in the rear by the teenage driver of another vehicle. It’s not immediately clear what type of vehicle the teen was driving. The teen was seriously injured and rushed to Delray Medical Center. One Boca Raton firefighter was also injured and transported to Boca Raton Regional Hospital. We expect Florida Highway Patrol to investigate the incident.

The fire truck was on the scene to assist other vehicles involved in a crash. Initial information — subject to change — indicates no Boca Raton Fire Rescue team member was injured. Injuries are unclear for the people involved in the crash.

Additional fire rescue units are being sent to the scene. We do not know if the truck that struck the fire truck remained on the scene or continued driving. It’s unclear if the driver of the striking vehicle knew that a crash had occurred…
