Authorities in North Miami were alerted to a tragic incident when a passerby discovered two unresponsive children, a 3-year-old boy and his twin sister, in the back seat of a car parked near an on-ramp linking Interstate 95 to the Florida Turnpike.
The distressing event unfolded around 2 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 2, prompting a swift response from the Miami-Dade Police Department after receiving reports of the unresponsive juveniles. The dispatcher relayed that the children were in cardiac arrest, escalating the urgency of the situation.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the driver, identified as Shirlene Alcime, had leaped over the railing onto the railroad tracks adjacent to the on-ramp. Detective Andre Martin described the distance between the on-ramp and the tracks as considerable.
Emergency medical services promptly transported the children to a nearby hospital, where they were tragically pronounced dead.
While the investigation continues, authorities have not found any visible signs of trauma on the twins, identified as Milendhere Gabriel Napoleon Cadet and Milenjhit Gabriella Napoleon Cadet.
