DELRAY BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — An 18-year-old Lauderhill man was arrested Monday night in Delray Beach after police said he tried to use a counterfeit $50 bill at multiple businesses and then fled from officers.
The Delray Beach Police Department said Je’Khori Terrell Dixon is accused of passing a fake $50 bill to pay for food at a McDonald’s on South Military Trail on April 20. Employees immediately recognized the bill as counterfeit and alerted authorities. Officers responding to the call were advised that Dixon had fled the scene on foot. He was later found and detained after a brief pursuit through nearby shopping plazas.
Investigators said the counterfeit bill was made of paper, lacked security holograms, and contained the same serial number as a bogus $50 bill recovered earlier that night at Pizzeria Vesuvio on South Congress Avenue.
