FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — Indiana schools will soon be required to enforce stricter cellphone restrictions under a new statewide law aimed at reducing classroom distractions and improving student focus.
The new law, Senate Enrolled Act 78, takes effect July 1 and requires schools to enforce “bell-to-bell” restrictions on personal electronic devices during the school day.
The policy applies to cellphones, smart watches, earbuds, gaming devices and similar electronics, though exceptions are allowed for emergencies, medical needs, and certain educational accommodations…
