FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — A Fort Wayne sandwich shop hit a major business milestone, but it has less to do with their food.
In just three years since it opened, Buyamba Sandwich Company has donated $122,963 to charity. The funds were split between two non-profits: Ray of Hope Medical Missions, Inc., which runs a birthing center in Buyamba, Uganda, and Empowerment International, which empowers young adults in Haiti and runs The Refuge Fort Wayne, a service center for immigrant families.
Rebbeca Ghent is the founder of Ray of Hope and owns Buyamba Sandwich Company. She started the shop in 2023 for the sole purpose of providing stable funding for her non-profit. That work is paying off, as the Ray of Hope birthing center is fully funded by Buyamba’s donations…
