City of Fort Wayne launches web page for homeless center feedback

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The City of Fort Wayne is now allowing public input online for the proposed controversial homeless resource center.

City officials launched the page Wednesday on the Engage Fort Wayne website, as announced in a press release. Its launch is the latest step taken to bridge the gap between residents’ opinions and the city’s plans for Anchor Resource Center, which is said to be designed to provide services such as healthcare, job training and housing for people facing homelessness.

Earlier this month, Fort Wayne City Council voted to hold off on funding for the proposed facility at 333 Washington Blvd. Councilmembers have had back-and-forth discussion with Mayor Sharon Tucker on the process to bring about the homeless center. Some businesses near the proposed location shared fears about how the facility would affect business and safety, while others voiced support for the project…
