Michigan man airlifted after box truck flips in rural Adams County

ADAMS COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) — The driver of a box truck was airlifted from the scene of a crash after the truck rolled into a pole.

According to a press release from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, a man from Gibraltar, Michigan, was driving a box truck east on US 224 near the Ohio state line on Friday. For unknown reasons, he veered off the road and began driving along the stone-berm shoulder.

Tire marks on the roadway show that the driver swerved left back onto the road, but overcorrected, causing the truck to cross over into oncoming traffic and off the other side. The truck then fell into a steep ditch and rolled on its side, spilling its contents. The truck then rolled into a tree, then a power pole, where it came to rest in a person’s front yard.

When police and medics arrived at the scene, they found that the driver was trapped in the cab of the truck. After freeing him, he was airlifted to a hospital due to the severity of his injuries…
