FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — A man has been charged in a fatal hit-and-run in which a pedestrian was killed.
On Wednesday, the Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) issued an arrest warrant for 33-year-old Jamikel Cooperwood, who is accused of Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death or Catastrophic Injury, a Level 4 felony, and Reckless Homicide Killing Another, a Level 5 felony. These charges stem from a fatal hit-and-run, where police say Cooperwood struck a pedestrian at high speeds.
At the beginning of June, police and medics were called to the area of S Hanna Street and E Sherwood Terrace at around 2:30 a.m. on reports of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle. Bystanders told police that the vehicle that hit the pedestrian had quickly fled the scene…
