FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – The midday lull we advertised for today fortunately panned out, with partial sunshine and highs making it close to 80º. However, the front responsible for the storms last night and this morning is still around, and will push more heavy rain and thunderstorm activity into the area overnight/Thursday morning.
The period to watch for the heaviest rain appears to be between 3 am and 10 am. Latest trends suggest areas south and west of Fort Wayne could see 1-2″+ of heavy rainfall, leading to some isolated flooding concerns. After 10 am, conditions will improve, with clearing expected by the late afternoon (hopefully earlier!).
Friday will be dry with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid to upper 70s, followed by another front for the weekend. Saturday morning looks dry up until 10-11 am, then shower and thunderstorm chances will increase through the afternoon and continue into the evening, bringing some more heavy rain to the area. It’s still looking like an earlier trip to Johnny Appleseed Saturday, or later Sunday morning, will be the best chance to avoid inclement weather!…
