SPENCERVILLE, Ind. (WANE) – An Allen County woman is remembering a loved one with two budding coffee and dirty soda businesses, and that grind is paying off.
“I needed to figure out a way that I could handle my own grief, and I turned that into a purpose,” Kayley Richardson said.
WANE 15 first reported Richardson and other advocates’ efforts to enact Senate Bill 9 earlier this year, a law that forces convicts to listen to victim impact statements. It’s something she never got to give Cohen Hancz-Barron, 22, who killed her two-year-old niece, Aubree, in a 2021 quadruple murder. Hancz-Barron also killed Aubree’s siblings, Carter Zent, 5, and Ashton Zent, 3, as well as her mom, Sarah Zent, 26.
