Mastodons get back to .500 in Horizon League play after topping Youngstown State

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Former Highlight Zone star Jalen Jackson led Purdue Fort Wayne with 23 points to help the Mastodons earn an 82-78 win over Youngstown State on Sunday.

Purdue Fort Wayne improves to 15-8 overall, including 6-6 in Horizon League play.

Anthony Roberts and Rasheed Bello also finished in double figures with 16 and 11 points, respectively.

Trailing 37-34 at halftime, the Mastodons used a 6-0 run to regain the lead in the opening moments of the second half. Purdue Fort Wayne grew that lead as much as 14 with 11:12 to go in regulation.

Youngstown State trimmed the deficit back to single digits, but couldn’t get within four points the rest of the way.

Purdue Fort Wayne looks to keep rolling on Wednesday against Cleveland State. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Memorial Coliseum.
